NCAAF Orange Bowl!!!!!!

Wake Forest No. 15th, meets No. 5 Louisville in the Orange Bowl tomorrow in the first matchup between the ACC and Big East champions.

The Demon Deacons (11-2) have only been to six bowl games since 1949, posting a 4-2 record and winning the last three. This is their first bowl appearance since a 38-17 rout of Oregon in the 2002 Seattle Bowl. Wake Forest lost its starting quarterback, top running back and his backup. Ben Mauk broke his arm and had a shoulder injury that needed surgery when he dove after a fumble in a season-opening win over Syracuse. Running back Micah Andrews suffered a torn ACL in the third game of the season and Kevin Harris, who finished with a team-high six touchdowns as the primary back, sprained a knee in late October and played just two of five games after the injury. Freshman quarterback Riley Skinner and converted wide receiver Kenneth Moore helped the Deamon Deacons have an incredible season and will look into finishing just the same way.

Louisville (11-1) is making its ninth straight bowl appearance and hasn’t won once since a 44-40 victory over Boise State in the 2004 Liberty Bowl. Last season, the Cardinals lost 35-24 to Virginia Tech in the Gator Bowl. The Cardinals are second in the nation in total offense with 476.8 yards per game and third in scoring with 38.9 points a contest.

NFL Postseason All Set!!!!

Week 17 gave us the setup for the postseason and confirmed to us who will be fighting to advance and win a spot in Superbowl XLI, here are the matchups.

WildCard Games

Kansas City at Indianapolis Saturday 4:30pm EST

The Chiefs got the help they needed Sunday and earned a matchup with Indianapolis in the wild-card round of the playoffs. But it won’t be easy for the AFC’s sixth seed as they head to the RCA Dome, where the Colts completed their first perfect season at home since 1958 when the Baltimore Colts won the NFL championship. Still, the key for the Chiefs will be the matchup of running back Larry Johnson, who set an NFL record for carries this season with 416, against an Indianapolis defense that has surrendered rushing yardage in bunches this year.

Dallas at Seattle Saturday 8pm EST

Despite owning the top wild card, Dallas goes into January having lost consecutive games for the first time all season. The Cowboys also have dropped three of four since owning a two-game division lead in early December. The situation is equally disappointing for the Seahawks, who needed a win in the finale to halt a three-game skid. The teams have met 10 times, with Dallas holding a 6-4 edge, but this will be the first postseason encounter.

NY Jets at New England Sunday 1pm EST

It will be Round 3 for the Jets and Patriots after the AFC East rivals split the regular-season series, with each team winning on the road. New York won the last meeting at Foxboro 17-14 on Nov. 12. Once again, all eyes will be on the head coaches as Jets rookie Eric Mangini served six years under Bill Belichick, five as defensive backs coach and last season as defensive coordinator.

New York Giants at Philadelphia Sunday 4:30pm EST

With their victory over the Redskins Saturday night, the Giants earned the final NFC wild-card berth and a third game with the NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles. The teams split their regular-season meetings, with each winning on the other’s field. The Giants rallied from a 24-7 fourth-quarter deficit in Week 2 to post a 30-24 overtime win in Philadelphia. The Eagles returned the favor in Week 15, riding a 22-point fourth quarter and the outstanding play of Jeff Garcia.
