NCAAF Bowls!!!!!!!

No. 17 Tennessee (9-3) at Penn St (8-4) January 1 Outback Bowl 11:00 am EST

Last season, the Nittany Lions won the Big Ten Conference and faced Florida State in the Orange Bowl. In a wild contest that included several missed kicks, Penn State posted a 26-23 win over the Seminoles. Led by senior quarterback Michael Robinson, last season’s Penn State team went 11-1, but junior Anthony Morelli struggled at times in 2006 as the Nittany Lions absorbed four losses in 12 regular-season games. Penn State, which went 5-3 to finish fourth in the Big Ten, won four of its final five games.

Tennessee (9-3) went 5-3 in the rugged Southeastern Conference, placing second in the East Division. Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer is 7-6 in bowl games, tied with Johnny Majors (7-4) for the most postseason wins in school history.

No. 10 Auburn (10-2) at No. 22 Nebraska (9-4) Cotton Bowl 11:30 am EST

Auburn has not played in the Cotton Bowl since January 1, 1986, when the Tigers lost to Texas A&M, 36-16. The Tigers (10-2) went 6-2 in the Southeastern Conference, finishing second in the West Division. Both of their defeats were blowouts at home, to SEC West champ Arkansas and Georgia.

The Cornhuskers (9-4) won the Big 12 Conference North Division with a 6-2 league mark before absorbing a 21-7 loss to South champion Oklahoma in the conference title game. Nebraska is 3-0 against Auburn. The teams last met in 1982, when the Cornhuskers posted a 41-7 road win.

No. 12 Arkansas (10-3) vs. No. 6 Wisconsin (11-1) Capital One Bowl 1:00 pm EST

Sixth-ranked Wisconsin aims for its first 12-win season, the Badgers (11-1) won 11 games in a regular season for the first time. Wisconsin went 7-1 in the Big Ten Conference to tie for second in the league with Michigan, which handed the Badgers their sole loss, 27-13, on September 23.

Like Wisconsin, Arkansas (10-3) just missed out on a BCS bowl berth. A surprise winner of the Southeastern Conference West Division after going 7-1 in league play, the Razorbacks lost to Florida in the conference title game, 38-28, and saw the Gators and Louisiana State earn BCS nods. The Razorbacks are paced by electrifying sophomore tailback Darren McFadden, who finished 10th in the nation in rushing (119.85).

No. 13 West Virginia (10-2) vs. Georgia Tech (9-4) Gator Bowl 1:00 pm EST

Led by quick running back Slaton and elusive quarterback White, the Mountaineers (10-2) were the nation’s No. 2 rushing team (302.33) and No. 5 total offense (463.0) in the regular season. The sophomores helped West Virginia go 5-2 in the Big East Conference, finishing tied for second in the league.

Georgia Tech (9-4) went 7-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play to win the Coastal Division before losing to Atlantic champ Wake Forest in the league title game. Erratic senior quarterback Reggie Ball and cornerback Kenny Scott were declared academically ineligible for the bowl. Ball will be replaced by sophomore Taylor Bennett, who will have the luxury of throwing to All-American receiver Calvin Johnson, while sophomore Jahi Word-Daniels is expected to start for Scott.

No. 8 USC (10-2) at No. 3 Michigan (11-1) Rose Bowl 4:30 pm EST

Ranked second for much of the season, Michigan won its first 11 games before losing its regular-season finale at top-ranked Big Ten Conference rival Ohio State, 42-39, on November 18. The Wolverines did not drop in the BCS standings after the defeat, but were leapfrogged by No. 3 USC after the Trojans waxed Notre Dame a week later. Michigan is led offensively by running back Mike Hart and quarterback Chad Henne, a fellow junior, but the key to the team’s success this season has been the Wolverines‘ defense, which shut down every opponent but the Buckeyes.

USC won the Pac-10 Conference for a record fifth straight year, an impressive accomplishment considering the team lost the past two Heisman Trophy winners, quarterback Matt Leinart and tailback Reggie Bush. The Trojans, who posted impressive non-conference wins over SEC West champion Arkansas, Big 12 North winner Nebraska and the Fighting Irish, received a solid season from junior John David Booty, who replaced Leinart and threw for 2,956 yards and 25 touchdowns with nine interceptions. USC has won two straight matchups and five of the last six against Michigan. The Trojans lead the all-time series, 5-4.

No. 9 Boise St (12-0) at No. 7 Oklahoma (11-2) Fiesta Bowl 8:30 pm EST

Boise State did not lose a game all season, but the Broncos also never faced a running back the caliber of Adrian Peterson. After missing seven games with a broken collarbone, Peterson is back to lead No. 7 Oklahoma into the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State. Peterson ran for 935 yards and 10 touchdowns through the first six games this season before suffering his injury diving into the end zone in a 34-9 win over Iowa State on October 14. Oklahoma has won eight straight games since a 28-10 loss to Texas on October 7, Oklahoma will be playing in its third Fiesta Bowl

Boise State did not taste defeat once in 12 games. The only team besides No. 1 Ohio State to go undefeated in the regular season, the Western Athletic Conference champions are playing in their first BCS bowl. The Broncos, who are led by sophomore running back Ian Johnson led the nation in scoring with 24 touchdowns and ranked second in rushing at 146.67 yards per game. The teams will be meeting for the first time.

NFL Week 17!!!!!

The best part of the NFL Season is about to begin, week 17 will just finish confirming the teams that will be in the playoffs. Some teams for this week have slim chances of being in the postseason and we will find out today who finally gets in, here is a preview for week17.

Panthers vs Saints

Panthers were expected by many to contend for the Super Bowl this season. However, they were mathematically eliminated from the NFC playoff race following yesterdays win by the New York Giants over the Washington Redskins.

The Saints, on the other hand, have rebounded nicely from a 3-13 record last season, when they were forced to play all of their games away from New Orleans because of Hurricane Katrina. Their 30-7 win over the Giants last weekend, coupled with Dallas‘ loss to Philadelphia on Monday, clinched the first postseason bye in franchise history.

Dallas vs Detroit

The Cowboys blew a chance to clinch the NFC East with a 23-7 home loss to Philadelphia on Christmas Day. Dallas (9-6) can still win the division and the NFC’s third seed if it beats Detroit and Philadelphia loses to Atlanta. That would mean a home playoff game for the first time since 1998. But if the Cowboys lose, they’ll open the first week of the postseason on the road at Seattle.

The Lions (2-13), who already have secured the NFC’s worst record this season, haven’t made the playoffs since 1999 and have six straight seasons with at least 10 losses.

Philadelphia vs Atlanta

Garcia has led the Eagles (9-5) on an improbable run to the postseason since starting quarterback Donovan McNabb was lost for the season with a knee injury in a 31-13 loss to Tennessee on Nov. 19. The Eagles clinched a playoff spot with a 23-7 win over Dallas on Christmas Day as Garcia was 15-for-23 for 238 yards with a touchdown and interception to improve to 4-1 as a starter.

Atlanta (7-8) was eliminated from postseason contention when the Giants defeated Washington 34-28 last night. Losers of two straight, including a 10-3 setback to struggling Carolina last Sunday, the Falcons have lost six of their last eight since starting 5-2.

Houston vs Cleveland

Houston will try to close the season by winning back-to-back games for the first time in two years when they meet the Cleveland Browns. The Texans (5-10) have never ended a regular season on a winning note, and they haven’t won two straight since holding Chicago and Jacksonville to a total of five points in road wins on Dec. 19 and 26, 2004.

Cleveland (4-11), wrapping up its second season under coach Romeo Crennel, has already been assured a worse record than its 6-10 mark in 2005.

New York Jets vs Oakland Raiders

The New York Jets simply have to beat the lowly Oakland Raiders on Sunday to earn a playoff berth and complete an impressive turnaround from a year ago. New York is one win away from its fourth postseason berth in the last six years. The Jets are 5-2 since their bye week, allowing an average of 14.1 points in those games, the third-fewest points in the league in that span.

Oakland(2-13) lost to Kansas City 20-9 last week to match the franchise record for losses in a season, set when it went 1-13 in 1962 – the season before Al Davis arrived to coach and eventually own the team. Oakland is winless on the road, and needs to win Sunday to avoid going 0-8 on the road for the first time since 2003.

Tampa Bay vs Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks earned their fourth straight trip to the postseason last week, but they haven’t looked much like a playoff-caliber team lately. The Seahawks try to end a three-game losing streak and gain some momentum heading into the playoffs as they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers ended a four-game losing streak with a 22-7 win over Cleveland on Sunday for its first road win since Dec. 11, 2005. They held the Browns to a season-low 187 yards, and matched a season high with four turnovers. The Bucs need to finish the regular season with a victory to avoid their first season with fewer than five wins since going 3-13 in 1991.

Baltimore vs Buffalo

The Ravens (12-3) can wrap up the No. 2 seed in the AFC, which means a home playoff game after a first-round bye, by beating the Bills (7-8). The Ravens also can finish with the second seed if they lose or tie while Indianapolis loses to Miami. The top seed is still within reach for Baltimore, though, if it defeats the Bills and San Diego loses to Arizona.

Buffalo was eliminated from playoff contention after losing 30-29 to Tennessee last Sunday. The Bills are 3-4 on the road this season after going 1-7 away from Buffalo last year. They are looking to win three consecutive road games for the first time since closing the 2004 season by winning four straight.

Indianapolis vs Miami

The Indianapolis Colts have already clinched their fourth straight AFC South title, but little else is in their control. They try to improve upon their recent play and keep their hopes alive for a first-round playoff bye when they host the Miami Dolphins. Indianapolis must win Sunday and hope Buffalo upsets Baltimore to ensure the No. 2 seed in the AFC and clinch a first-round bye. The Colts could slip all the way to the fourth seed if they lose and New England tops Tennessee.

Miami (6-9) enters this matchup on a downturn as well, having lost three of its last four games. The Dolphins fell 13-10 to the New York Jets Monday night, getting eliminated from the postseason for the fifth straight year and ensuring their second losing season in the last three.

Denver vs San Fransisco

The Broncos can advance to the postseason with a win or a tie against the San Francisco 49ers when the teams meet in the regular-season finale at Invesco Field. The Broncos can now make another trip to the postseason with a win or a tie Sunday, or a Kansas City loss or tie. A victory would also ensure their fourth straight 10-win season, tying the best run in franchise history.

The 49ers have lost four of their last five games following a season-high three-game winning streak. They amassed just 223 yards total offense last Sunday in a 26-20 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which officially eliminated them from the playoff picture.

Green Bay vs Chicago

The Packers (7-8) are one of five teams tied for the final playoff spot and could know their fate even before kickoff depending on what happens in games involving the New York Giants and Carolina, Atlanta and St. Louis earlier on Sunday. With the Giants winning Saturday night, Green Bay is still mathematically alive to win a strength of victory tiebreaker over New York, but the Packers need an elaborate, unlikely combination of results from around the league to make that happen.

The game is essentially meaningless for the Bears (13-2), who have already clinched home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. The Bears will try to win their fifth straight game and go undefeated against the NFC (11-0) for the first time since the 1985 Super Bowl championship team did it.
