Boxing Wright vrs Quartey tonight!!!!!

Ronald Wright still thinks about Jermain Taylor, after a draw in their first meeting. It was a fight that Wright should’ve earned, an easy simple fight but in the end the draw prevailed and now Wright will have to forget about Taylor and focus on Quartey tonight. This is a great fight for Wright, a bout in which he can demonstrate why he’s one of the top fighters in the sport of boxing.

Quartey is coming off a 10 round loss to Vernon Forrest. Quartey should have received a better outcome, but he will get another shot at a quality fighter tonight. Wright in paper shouldn’t have any problem against Quartey tonight, should be an easy win. Though if Wright were to lose the bout tonight it will look as if he were not focused enough for Quartey and only thinking about a Taylor rematch, which would not be any good for his future expectations.

Neither man had won a fight in a year, Wright, whose last victory was against Sam Soliman 12 months ago, rebounded from the disappointment of his draw with Jermain Taylor to defeat Ike Quartey of Ghana by a unanimous decision.

A sweeping right hand knocked Quartey down briefly in the second, although Quartey bounced back up immediately. Another flash knockdown in the seventh was similarly inconclusive. A left hand at the end of an exchange appeared to send Quartey briefly to one knee, but wasn’t enough to finish him off. For much of the bout, particularly in the second half, Quartey’s attack was nullified by Wright’s trademark defense, both hands held high close to his head, and when Wright at one point appeared to be electing to close out the bout in his usual, methodical fashion. The judges scored the bout 117-109 (twice), 117-110 in Wright’s favor.

USC takes on UCLA!!!!!

With a win this Saturday 2nd ranked USC will wrap up a spot in the BCS title game. USC (10-1, 7-1) would match up with top-ranked Ohio State for the national championship on Jan. 8 if they get by UCLA. A loss this Saturday means USC would have to settle for the Rose Bowl. Jarrett has 24 receptions for 407 yards and six touchdowns in the last four games. Jarrett caught one of Leinart’s three TD passes in USC’s 66-19 rout of UCLA last season. It was the Trojans seventh straight victory in the series since a 34-17 loss at the Rose Bowl in 1998. The Trojans have dominated UCLA of late winning the last seven.

UCLA is expected to get back its starting quarterback for this game. Redshirt sophomore Ben Olson hasn’t played since Oct. 7, when he tore a knee ligament in a 27-7 win over Arizona. Olson was 4-1 as a starter, completing nearly 64 percent of his passes for 822 yards with five TD’S and five interceptions. If Olson doesn’t play, Patrick Cowan will be going for his third straight win as the starter. He was 14-of-24 for 187 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions against Arizona State. UCLA (6-5, 4-4) is set to face Florida State at the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco on Dec. 27.

UCLA knocked No. 2 USC out of the BCS title game with a stunning 13-9 victory over its crosstown rival Saturday. As Pac-10 champions, the Trojans will return to this same field on New Year’s Day and play in the Rose Bowl game. Besides having their national championship hopes ended, the Trojans (10-2, 7-2 Pac-10) lost their NCAA-record streak of 63 games in which they had scored 20 or more points.

J.Lo’s Ex, Ojani Noa unwilling to go quietly into obscurity

Jennifer Lopez’s first ex-hubby, Ojani Noa, told a Los Angeles judge Friday that he is sorry he ever agreed to stop peddling a tell-all book about Lopez and instead wants to “fight this thing to the end.”

“I didn’t agree to it,” Noa told the court, referring to the preliminary injunction handed down June 30, adding that he’s not sure what this whole “arbitration” business is all about either.

The former waiter, whom Lopez married in 1997, said that, because of his limited English skills, he didn’t understand what was happening when his lawyer agreed in October to enter arbitration with Lopez, rather than let the matter play out before a judge.

“My lawyer told me that was the right thing to do and I went along with it,” Noa said.

To Noa’s credit, maybe his attorney didn’t quite get the picture, either. Noa said that he found out on Nov. 8 that the lawyer who had been representing him wasn’t actually licensed to practice law.

L.A. Superior Court Judge Victor Person gave Noa until Jan. 17 to obtain a new attorney or prepare to represent himself.

Lopez sued the would-be writer in April, asking for a permanent injunction against any tell-all publication possibly in the works and claiming that Noa had told her he would consider dropping the project for a $5 million payoff.

Among the choice tidbits supposedly gathered in Noa’s manuscript are details about his and J.Lo’s first sexual encounter and info about her allegedly unfaithful ways during the course of their 11-month union, including a supposed dalliance with a still-married Marc Anthony.

Noa told reporters outside the courthouse Friday that his former missus was merely trying to vilify him in the public’s mind, saying he did not try to blackmail her, but was only answering a question her associates posed to him.

“They asked me, ‘What do you want?’” Noa said. “We live in a country where we have free speech, the First Amendment.”

Furthermore, he said, this whole tell-all thing has gotten way out of hand, as well.

“This was to be about my life story, coming here from Cuba,” Noa said. “She was only a part of my life, but I was going to talk about my other girlfriends as well…I’m not that kind of guy. I’m a private person, too.”

The New York Post reported back in January, however, that Noa’s manuscript was a 12-chapter tome titled The Unknown Truth: A Passionate Portrait of a Serial Thriller, with each chapter name borrowing a title from one of Lopez’s movies.

Under the current injunction, Noa is forbidden from selling or distributing the manuscript by any means, and is not allowed to profit from any private or intimate details about Lopez or his relationship with her. He must also refrain from “criticizing, denigrating, casting in a negative light or otherwise disparaging or causing disparagement to the plaintiff.”

Lindsay Lohan Attending AA Meetings

Lindsay Lohan’s mother, Dina, has told the media that her daughter has been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, though the elder Lohan stopped short of saying that the starlet has formally entered the program.

Dina Lohan made the comments to Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM Los Angeles radio show Friday, adding that her 20-year-old daughter does not have a drinking problem per se, but is simply attending the meetings as many of her friends do and have found them beneficial.

“That is true,” she replied, when asked if Lindsay was attending AA meetings. “You know, a lot of people she hangs out with go, and it’s a positive thing. As a parent, you tell them what you can tell them, but she’s 20 and I’m not gonna say, ‘Stay home and don’t go out,’ that’s a ridiculous thing to do.

“I’m there for support, and I’ll obviously give her my opinion, but she’s very smart” she said.

The mother of three has never publicly come out against her eldest daughter’s nonstop partying and the bad press that results.

Over the summer, James G. Robinson, the producer of the Lindsay star vehicle Georgia Rule, issued a public letter to the actress, deriding her behavior on the movie set as that of a “spoiled child” and saying that her party-hearty ways were affecting production.

Dina quickly defended her daughter, saying Lindsay was a consummate professional who had to be taken to the hospital because of on-set conditions, not because of late nights, and calling Robinson’s public scolding “ridiculous.”

“I’m a mother and will do what I need to do to protect my child,” she said at the time. “I don’t feel it should be aired out and everyone should know. It’s personal.”

At least until now.
