NCAAF Bowls!!!!!!!

No. 17 Tennessee (9-3) at Penn St (8-4) January 1 Outback Bowl 11:00 am EST

Last season, the Nittany Lions won the Big Ten Conference and faced Florida State in the Orange Bowl. In a wild contest that included several missed kicks, Penn State posted a 26-23 win over the Seminoles. Led by senior quarterback Michael Robinson, last season’s Penn State team went 11-1, but junior Anthony Morelli struggled at times in 2006 as the Nittany Lions absorbed four losses in 12 regular-season games. Penn State, which went 5-3 to finish fourth in the Big Ten, won four of its final five games.

Tennessee (9-3) went 5-3 in the rugged Southeastern Conference, placing second in the East Division. Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer is 7-6 in bowl games, tied with Johnny Majors (7-4) for the most postseason wins in school history.

No. 10 Auburn (10-2) at No. 22 Nebraska (9-4) Cotton Bowl 11:30 am EST

Auburn has not played in the Cotton Bowl since January 1, 1986, when the Tigers lost to Texas A&M, 36-16. The Tigers (10-2) went 6-2 in the Southeastern Conference, finishing second in the West Division. Both of their defeats were blowouts at home, to SEC West champ Arkansas and Georgia.

The Cornhuskers (9-4) won the Big 12 Conference North Division with a 6-2 league mark before absorbing a 21-7 loss to South champion Oklahoma in the conference title game. Nebraska is 3-0 against Auburn. The teams last met in 1982, when the Cornhuskers posted a 41-7 road win.

No. 12 Arkansas (10-3) vs. No. 6 Wisconsin (11-1) Capital One Bowl 1:00 pm EST

Sixth-ranked Wisconsin aims for its first 12-win season, the Badgers (11-1) won 11 games in a regular season for the first time. Wisconsin went 7-1 in the Big Ten Conference to tie for second in the league with Michigan, which handed the Badgers their sole loss, 27-13, on September 23.

Like Wisconsin, Arkansas (10-3) just missed out on a BCS bowl berth. A surprise winner of the Southeastern Conference West Division after going 7-1 in league play, the Razorbacks lost to Florida in the conference title game, 38-28, and saw the Gators and Louisiana State earn BCS nods. The Razorbacks are paced by electrifying sophomore tailback Darren McFadden, who finished 10th in the nation in rushing (119.85).

No. 13 West Virginia (10-2) vs. Georgia Tech (9-4) Gator Bowl 1:00 pm EST

Led by quick running back Slaton and elusive quarterback White, the Mountaineers (10-2) were the nation’s No. 2 rushing team (302.33) and No. 5 total offense (463.0) in the regular season. The sophomores helped West Virginia go 5-2 in the Big East Conference, finishing tied for second in the league.

Georgia Tech (9-4) went 7-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play to win the Coastal Division before losing to Atlantic champ Wake Forest in the league title game. Erratic senior quarterback Reggie Ball and cornerback Kenny Scott were declared academically ineligible for the bowl. Ball will be replaced by sophomore Taylor Bennett, who will have the luxury of throwing to All-American receiver Calvin Johnson, while sophomore Jahi Word-Daniels is expected to start for Scott.

No. 8 USC (10-2) at No. 3 Michigan (11-1) Rose Bowl 4:30 pm EST

Ranked second for much of the season, Michigan won its first 11 games before losing its regular-season finale at top-ranked Big Ten Conference rival Ohio State, 42-39, on November 18. The Wolverines did not drop in the BCS standings after the defeat, but were leapfrogged by No. 3 USC after the Trojans waxed Notre Dame a week later. Michigan is led offensively by running back Mike Hart and quarterback Chad Henne, a fellow junior, but the key to the team’s success this season has been the Wolverines‘ defense, which shut down every opponent but the Buckeyes.

USC won the Pac-10 Conference for a record fifth straight year, an impressive accomplishment considering the team lost the past two Heisman Trophy winners, quarterback Matt Leinart and tailback Reggie Bush. The Trojans, who posted impressive non-conference wins over SEC West champion Arkansas, Big 12 North winner Nebraska and the Fighting Irish, received a solid season from junior John David Booty, who replaced Leinart and threw for 2,956 yards and 25 touchdowns with nine interceptions. USC has won two straight matchups and five of the last six against Michigan. The Trojans lead the all-time series, 5-4.

No. 9 Boise St (12-0) at No. 7 Oklahoma (11-2) Fiesta Bowl 8:30 pm EST

Boise State did not lose a game all season, but the Broncos also never faced a running back the caliber of Adrian Peterson. After missing seven games with a broken collarbone, Peterson is back to lead No. 7 Oklahoma into the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State. Peterson ran for 935 yards and 10 touchdowns through the first six games this season before suffering his injury diving into the end zone in a 34-9 win over Iowa State on October 14. Oklahoma has won eight straight games since a 28-10 loss to Texas on October 7, Oklahoma will be playing in its third Fiesta Bowl

Boise State did not taste defeat once in 12 games. The only team besides No. 1 Ohio State to go undefeated in the regular season, the Western Athletic Conference champions are playing in their first BCS bowl. The Broncos, who are led by sophomore running back Ian Johnson led the nation in scoring with 24 touchdowns and ranked second in rushing at 146.67 yards per game. The teams will be meeting for the first time.

NFL Week 17!!!!!

The best part of the NFL Season is about to begin, week 17 will just finish confirming the teams that will be in the playoffs. Some teams for this week have slim chances of being in the postseason and we will find out today who finally gets in, here is a preview for week17.

Panthers vs Saints

Panthers were expected by many to contend for the Super Bowl this season. However, they were mathematically eliminated from the NFC playoff race following yesterdays win by the New York Giants over the Washington Redskins.

The Saints, on the other hand, have rebounded nicely from a 3-13 record last season, when they were forced to play all of their games away from New Orleans because of Hurricane Katrina. Their 30-7 win over the Giants last weekend, coupled with Dallas‘ loss to Philadelphia on Monday, clinched the first postseason bye in franchise history.

Dallas vs Detroit

The Cowboys blew a chance to clinch the NFC East with a 23-7 home loss to Philadelphia on Christmas Day. Dallas (9-6) can still win the division and the NFC’s third seed if it beats Detroit and Philadelphia loses to Atlanta. That would mean a home playoff game for the first time since 1998. But if the Cowboys lose, they’ll open the first week of the postseason on the road at Seattle.

The Lions (2-13), who already have secured the NFC’s worst record this season, haven’t made the playoffs since 1999 and have six straight seasons with at least 10 losses.

Philadelphia vs Atlanta

Garcia has led the Eagles (9-5) on an improbable run to the postseason since starting quarterback Donovan McNabb was lost for the season with a knee injury in a 31-13 loss to Tennessee on Nov. 19. The Eagles clinched a playoff spot with a 23-7 win over Dallas on Christmas Day as Garcia was 15-for-23 for 238 yards with a touchdown and interception to improve to 4-1 as a starter.

Atlanta (7-8) was eliminated from postseason contention when the Giants defeated Washington 34-28 last night. Losers of two straight, including a 10-3 setback to struggling Carolina last Sunday, the Falcons have lost six of their last eight since starting 5-2.

Houston vs Cleveland

Houston will try to close the season by winning back-to-back games for the first time in two years when they meet the Cleveland Browns. The Texans (5-10) have never ended a regular season on a winning note, and they haven’t won two straight since holding Chicago and Jacksonville to a total of five points in road wins on Dec. 19 and 26, 2004.

Cleveland (4-11), wrapping up its second season under coach Romeo Crennel, has already been assured a worse record than its 6-10 mark in 2005.

New York Jets vs Oakland Raiders

The New York Jets simply have to beat the lowly Oakland Raiders on Sunday to earn a playoff berth and complete an impressive turnaround from a year ago. New York is one win away from its fourth postseason berth in the last six years. The Jets are 5-2 since their bye week, allowing an average of 14.1 points in those games, the third-fewest points in the league in that span.

Oakland(2-13) lost to Kansas City 20-9 last week to match the franchise record for losses in a season, set when it went 1-13 in 1962 – the season before Al Davis arrived to coach and eventually own the team. Oakland is winless on the road, and needs to win Sunday to avoid going 0-8 on the road for the first time since 2003.

Tampa Bay vs Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks earned their fourth straight trip to the postseason last week, but they haven’t looked much like a playoff-caliber team lately. The Seahawks try to end a three-game losing streak and gain some momentum heading into the playoffs as they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers ended a four-game losing streak with a 22-7 win over Cleveland on Sunday for its first road win since Dec. 11, 2005. They held the Browns to a season-low 187 yards, and matched a season high with four turnovers. The Bucs need to finish the regular season with a victory to avoid their first season with fewer than five wins since going 3-13 in 1991.

Baltimore vs Buffalo

The Ravens (12-3) can wrap up the No. 2 seed in the AFC, which means a home playoff game after a first-round bye, by beating the Bills (7-8). The Ravens also can finish with the second seed if they lose or tie while Indianapolis loses to Miami. The top seed is still within reach for Baltimore, though, if it defeats the Bills and San Diego loses to Arizona.

Buffalo was eliminated from playoff contention after losing 30-29 to Tennessee last Sunday. The Bills are 3-4 on the road this season after going 1-7 away from Buffalo last year. They are looking to win three consecutive road games for the first time since closing the 2004 season by winning four straight.

Indianapolis vs Miami

The Indianapolis Colts have already clinched their fourth straight AFC South title, but little else is in their control. They try to improve upon their recent play and keep their hopes alive for a first-round playoff bye when they host the Miami Dolphins. Indianapolis must win Sunday and hope Buffalo upsets Baltimore to ensure the No. 2 seed in the AFC and clinch a first-round bye. The Colts could slip all the way to the fourth seed if they lose and New England tops Tennessee.

Miami (6-9) enters this matchup on a downturn as well, having lost three of its last four games. The Dolphins fell 13-10 to the New York Jets Monday night, getting eliminated from the postseason for the fifth straight year and ensuring their second losing season in the last three.

Denver vs San Fransisco

The Broncos can advance to the postseason with a win or a tie against the San Francisco 49ers when the teams meet in the regular-season finale at Invesco Field. The Broncos can now make another trip to the postseason with a win or a tie Sunday, or a Kansas City loss or tie. A victory would also ensure their fourth straight 10-win season, tying the best run in franchise history.

The 49ers have lost four of their last five games following a season-high three-game winning streak. They amassed just 223 yards total offense last Sunday in a 26-20 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which officially eliminated them from the playoff picture.

Green Bay vs Chicago

The Packers (7-8) are one of five teams tied for the final playoff spot and could know their fate even before kickoff depending on what happens in games involving the New York Giants and Carolina, Atlanta and St. Louis earlier on Sunday. With the Giants winning Saturday night, Green Bay is still mathematically alive to win a strength of victory tiebreaker over New York, but the Packers need an elaborate, unlikely combination of results from around the league to make that happen.

The game is essentially meaningless for the Bears (13-2), who have already clinched home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. The Bears will try to win their fifth straight game and go undefeated against the NFC (11-0) for the first time since the 1985 Super Bowl championship team did it.

NCAAF Bowls Saturday!!!!

Navy Midshipmen(9-3) at Boston College Eagles(9-3) Meineke Car Care Bowl 1pm EST

The underdog and undersized Midshipmen will be the crowd favorite when they face the 23rd-ranked Eagles in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Frank Spaziani, the Eagles‘ defensive coordinator under O’Brien the past eight seasons, will serve as interim head coach against Navy. O’Brien accepted the vacant position at ACC rival North Carolina State. BC will be trying to slow down the prolific Navy offense with Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada their biggest threat. The Eagles, who ranked 13th in the country against the run by allowing only 90.1 yards per game, don’t anticipate changing their gameplan against Navy.

Navy went 1-3 this season against opponents headed to a bowl, the Midshipmen will have to slow down a BC offense guided by first team All-ACC quarterback RyanNavy’s dependence on the ground game should negate the Eagles’ ability to intercept passes which should be their focus on tomorrows game. Navy has won its last two bowl games, the Midshipmen captured the 2004 Emerald Bowl over New Mexico and the 2005 Poinsettia Bowl over Colorado State. They’ll be looking at an opponent from the powerful ACC for the first time and a Perennial bowl team as the Eagles are making their eighth straight postseason appearance.

Texas Longhorns (9-3) against Iowa (6-6) Alamo Bowl 4:30pm EST.

Texas ended the regular season with its first back-to-back losses since 1999. Freshman quarterback Colt McCoy, who set a school record with 27 touchdown passes, severely pinched a nerve in his neck in both games. McCoy will most likely be at tomorrows game he has been able to recover no doubt he won’t want to miss out on tomorrow. A victory would give Texas its sixth straight 10-win season.

Iowa started the season 5-1, just like Texas, with their only losses to Ohio State and The Hawkeyes lost five of their last six games and another loss tomorrow sends Iowa to its first losing season since 2000. More bad news for Iowa senior middle linebacker Mike Klinkenborg will likely miss the game because of a foot injury.

Georgia Bulldogs(8-4) at Virginia Tech Hokies(10-2) Chick-fil-A Bowl 8pm EST.
Virginia Tech (10-2) leads the nation with its averages of 221 yards and 9.3 points allowed per game. The Hokies allowed a total of 29 points while winning their last six games, they shut out two of their last three opponents. The only teams to score more than 13 points against Virginia Tech were the only teams to beat the Hokies, Georgia Tech (38-27) and Boston College (22-3) in back-to-back midseason games. Virginia Tech tailback Branden Ore, who missed the final regular-season game against Virginia with an ankle sprain, is expected back. He rushed for 1,095 yards and 14 touchdowns despite missing almost two full games with the injury.
Georgia (8-4) is ninth in total defense, giving up 264 yards per game, and 22nd in scoring defense, allowing an average of 17.1 points. Georgia’s streak of four straight seasons with 10 or more wins and top 10 rankings has ended, Georgia suffered a more prolonged midseason slump, losing four of five games to drop to 6-4. The Bulldogs saved their season with consecutive upsets of No. 5 Auburn and No. 16 Georgia Tech. Georgia, making its second straight postseason appearance in the Georgia Dome, also is playing to make up for last season’s poor showing in a loss to West Virginia.

UFC 66 Liddell vs Ortiz!!!!

These two former training partners hook up in one of the most highly-anticipated rematches in MMA history. They fought for the first time back in 2004 and Liddell won by second-round TKO.

Liddell(19-3) will be making his seventh title defense when he puts his strap on the line against Ortiz. Liddell is one of the most dangerous strikers in the 205-pound division, and he possesses incredible takedown defense.

Ortiz(15-4) has won five consecutive fights since the loss to Liddell. Ortiz is a good wrestler with tremendous conditioning and vicious ground-and-pound skills. He has improved his boxing and kickboxing skills over the years.

On paper, Liddell has the advantage in the standup game, while Ortiz has the edge on the ground. It remains to be seen if Ortiz can take the counter-punching Liddell to the ground. If the Huntington Beach Bad Boy gets Liddell to the ground, this fight can go either way.

NCAAF Bowls Friday!!!!!

MUSIC CITY BOWL Clemson Tigers(8-4) vs Kentucky Wildcats(7-5) 1pm EST

The Tigers and Wildcats match their potent offenses with contrasting styles in the Music City Bowl. Clemson prefers running the ball with James Davis and C.J. Spiller, and few teams in the country are as effective on the ground. Davis, a sophomore, ran for 17 touchdowns, two short of the Atlantic Coast Conference record. Spiller, a freshman, added 10 more scores and needs 86 yards to join Davis as a 1,000-yard rusher this season. Clemson strategy is unchanged, run first then throw. The plan is to exhaust Kentucky’s porous defense with a bruising rushing attack that controls the clock and gives Woodson fewer minutes with the ball.

Kentucky decided to rely on the passing of quarterback Andre Woodson this season, and he took the Wildcats to their first bowl game since 1999. Woodson gets much of the credit for Kentucky’s change in offensive approach. He led the Southeastern Conference with 28 touchdown passes, nearly five times his total last year as a sophomore, and threw for 3,216 yards.

SUN BOWL Missouri Tigers(8-4) vs Oregan State Beavers(9-4) 2pm EST

Oregon State (9-4) executed a remarkable in-season turnaround, winning seven of eight. The Beavers pulled off one of the year’s biggest upsets, beating then-No. 3 Southern California 33-31 on Oct. 28. They finished the regular season with wins over rival Oregon and at Hawaii. Mike Riley is the first Oregon State coach to win two bowl games, the Las Vegas in 2003 and the Insight in 2004. Oregon State finished with a balanced offense, an aggressive defense that led the conference with 44 sacks and a knack for making big plays at the finish.

Gary Pinkel has taken the Tigers to bowls three of the last four years, and expectations began to rise for an elite postseason bid. A late three-game losing streak dashed those hopes, although the Tigers rallied to rout Kansas in the regular-season finale and earn a bowl upgrade over its two straight Independence Bowl appearances. A win over Oregon State would be the first over a ranked opponent for Missouri since 2003, although four victories this year have come against bowl teams.

UFC 66 December 30!!!!

The day we all have been waiting for is just a couple days away. The best MMA battles will take place this saturday and I can’t wait to see what will happen on these fights. We might watch some fighters maintain their dominance or we can see others regain stardom, we will just have to tune in this saturday. Here are some of the Battles for Saturday:

Light-heavyweight Forrest Griffin (13-3) vs. Keith Jardine (11-2-1)

Griffin, the TUF 1 winner, takes on Jardine, a TUF 2 competitor, in what is expected to be a standup battle. Jardine has won five of his past six fights. His lone loss in that span was a decision to Stephan Bonnar.

Griffin has also won five of his past six fights. His lone loss in that span was a split decision to Tito Ortiz. Griffin has two decision victories over Bonnar.

Heavyweight champion Andre Arlovski (9-5) vs. Marcio Cruz (2-1)

Arlovski took some time off after suffering his second straight loss to UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia on April 15, and he is ready to regain his status as one of the most feared heavyweights in MMA. The former UFC heavyweight champion isn’t getting a soft touch in his return to the Octagon.

Pe De Pano is one of the most accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champions in history. He is a six-time Mundial world champion, an eight-time Pan-American champion, a five-time Brazilian national champion and two-time Abu Dhabi champion. He scored a stunning first-round TKO over Frank Mir on Feb. 4 and went the distance in a split decision loss to Jeff Monson on April 15.

Middleweight Jason MacDonald (17-7) vs. Chris Leben (15-2)

Leben had his five-fight winning streak snapped when he was knocked out in the first round by Anderson Silva, who was making his UFC debut. That kind of first-round KO can do a lot of damage to a young fighter, but Leben bounced back with a second-round KO over Jorge Santiago in August.

MacDonald was impressive in his UFC debut, submitting Leben’s Team Quest teammate, Ed Herman, with a triangle choke in the first round in October.

Light-heavyweight Eric Schafer (9-1-2) vs. Michael Bisping (11-0)

Bisping is back in the Octagon for the first time since steam rolling Josh Haynes in the TUF 3 finals on June 24. Bisping, a big-time striker with Jiu-Jitsu skills, is eager to make his mark in the UFC.

Schafer is a submission wrestler and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt under Henry Matamoros and Pedro Sauer. He will be very interesting to watch against Bisping’s return to the Octagon.

Don’t miss out on the most anticipated battles of the year UFC 66 at SkytowerCasino and Sportsbook.

NCAAF Bowls Independence Bowl!!!!!

Alabama (6-6) at Oklahoma St (6-6) Independence Bowl 4:30 pm EST.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have been to more bowl games than any other school. Joe Kines was named interim coach for the Crimson Tide after Mike Shula was fired on November 27. It will be the second time Kines has been put in this situation, in this oportunity he takes over a Crimson Tide team which has lost three straight and four of its last five games. Alabama (6-6) is in its third straight bowl contest and is making its second appearance in the Independence Bowl. The Crimson Tide beat Iowa State, 14-13, in 2001. The program holds the NCAA record for most bowl games (53) and wins (30). The Crimson Tide are led by sophomore QB John Parker Wilson who threw for 2,539 yards and 16 touchdowns. Wilson’s main target is junior wide receiver DJ Hall who caught 57 passes for 1,014 yards and five scores.

Oklahoma State (6-6) is also playing in its second Independence Bowl. The team is guided by coach Mike Gundy, who is in just his second season and has the Cowboys in a bowl for the fourth time in the last five years. The Cowboys also struggled down the stretch, losing two straight and three of their last four games. Sophomore QB Bobby Reid threw for 2,054 yards and 23 touchdowns for Oklahoma State and also ran for 466 yards and five TDs. Reid’s favorite receiver is Adarius Bowman who hauled in 57 passes for 1,131 yards and 11 TDs. Junior running back Dantrell Savage is the leading ground gainer with 727 yards and seven touchdowns, while defensive end Victor DeGrate led the defense with 8.5 sacks. Oklahoma State is 10-6 all-time in bowl games but has lost two straight, including a 33-7 whipping at the hands of Ohio State in the Alamo Bowl 04.

No. 16 Rutgers (10-2) at Kansas St (7-5) Texas Bowl 8:00 pm EST

The Scarlet Knights have had their best season in 30 years, should Rutgers lose to Kansas State in the Texas Bowl, the season will likely be considered a failure. Rutgers (10-2) needs to beat Kansas State tomorrow night to validate its breakthrough season. Rutgers started the season 9-0 and was on track for a BCS bowl bid after a 28-25 victory over Louisville. The Scarlet Knights lost to Cincinnati in their next game, but had a second chance to win the Big East and lock up an Orange Bowl bid. They came up short, losing, 41-39, at West Virginia in triple overtime in their season finale. Running back Ray Rice is leading the way the sophomore has rushed for 1,624 yards and 19 TDs this season. He combines with fullback Brian Leonard to form one of the country’s best backfields.

Kansas State (7-5) has had a bounce-back season under first-year coach Ron Prince that included a 45-42 victory over Texas on November 11. Freshman quarterback Josh Freeman will need to have a big game for the Wildcats to pull the upset. He threw for 269 yards and three TDs in the upset of the Longhorns and will have to be as good, if not better, for Kansas State to pull it off the win again. QB Freeman finished the season with six TD passes and 13 interceptions. Kansas State can’t afford for Freeman to turn the ball over against Rutgers.

No. 21 Texas A&M (9-3) at No. 20 California (9-3) Holiday Bowl 8:00 pm EST

Two teams that had rough finishes to their seasons meet up in the Holiday Bowl looking for a happy ending. Texas A&M (9-3) started the season with four straight wins and victories in eight of its first nine before dropping close games to Big 12 rivals Oklahoma and Nebraska. The Aggies rebounded by upsetting Texas on November 24, knocking the Longhorns out of the conference title game. That win was coach Dennis Franchione’s 180th of his career and propelled Texas A&M to its 29th postseason game and the second Holiday Bowl berth in school history. Quarterback Stephen McGee leads the Aggies offense and completed 62 percent (177-of-287) of his passes for 2,118 yards and 11 touchdowns. The sophomore also rushed for 635 yards and four scores, becoming just one of three quarterbacks to throw for 2,000 yards and rush for 500.

California (9-3), the 2006 Pac-10 co-champions, also lost two of its last three games, but did have an eight-game winning streak after suffering a 35-18 loss at Tennessee in it’s season’s first game. The Bears last game was a 26-17 victory over heated Pac-10 rival Stanford on December 2. The Bears who are headed to their fourth straight bowl appearance, are led by Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year Marshawn Lynch who rushed for 1,245 yards and scored 13 TDs. Sophomore quarterback Nate Longshore completed 59 percent (208-of-353) passes for 2,786 yards and 23 touchdowns this season but struggled down the stretch. He failed to complete 50 percent of his passes in any of Cal’s final three games, including losses at Arizona and USC. Texas A&M and California have met twice before, splitting games over a three-year span.

NCAAF Emerald Bowl Florida State vs UCLA!!!!

No school has appeared in more BCS bowls than Florida State. A defeat here and the ‘Noles finish below .500, snapping a skein of 30 winning seasons. Few running backs entered college more highly touted than Lorenzo Booker, this year he shared carries with Antone Smith, but Smith dislocated his elbow near the end of the season and his status for this game is doubtful. FB Joe Surratt, a short-yardage specialist who converted six of his 21 carries into touchdowns, has been ruled out after dislocating his shoulder in the season-finale. Without a productive infantry, the quarterbacks have been forced to shoulder a larger burden. Drew Weatherford has been named the starter ahead of the more athletic but more erratic Xavier Lee.

UCLA is also expected to use two quarterbacks. Patrick Cowan will start ahead of Ben Olson. With Cowan under center, the Bruins concluded the season with upsets of three bowl-bound teams. In those games, the UCLA defense was very solid, holding the opposition to a combined 28 points.

UCLA is in better form, has defeated a stronger cast of opponents, and will bring the larger rooting contingent to A T & T Park. While the Seminoles have more impressive wideouts and can strike quicker, the Bruins seemingly have a greater likelihood of controlling the tempo. The key will be RB Chris Markey, who had a solid campaign after a breakout performance in last year’s Sun Bowl.

MNF NFL Week 16 X-MAS Doubleheader!!!!

The Dallas Cowboys can clinch their first NFC East title under coach Bill Parcells with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles today but the main focus will likely shift to Terrell Owens facing his former team for the second time this season. The first one was not a good experience for Owens, who was booed lustily by the Philadelphia fans and caught just three passes for 45 yards in the Cowboys‘ 38-24 loss to the Eagles on October 9.

Owens appeared frustrated with the Cowboys‘ offensive line and quarterback Drew Bledsoe, who was sacked seven times. Owens is known for criticizing his quarterbacks. He did it to Donovan McNabb in his two years with the Eagles and before that bashed quarterback Jeff Garcia in San Francisco. Now Garcia is the starting quarterback in Philadelphia after McNabb suffered a season-ending torn ACL in a November 19 loss to Tennessee.

Dallas is 6-2 since Romo took over as the starter and Romo was even named to the Pro Bowl on Tuesday. The Cowboys have already clinched their second playoff berth in Parcells‘ four years as coach. This one likely happened because Parcells made the switch from Bledsoe to Tony Romo in late October.

The three-game winning streak has catapulted Philadelphia into the lead in the wild-card race, one game ahead of Atlanta and the Giants. And if the Eagles win at Dallas on today, they will take over first place in the NFC East on the strength of their head-to-head tiebreaker. If the Eagles lose at Dallas, they can still seal a playoff berth with a win over Atlanta in the season finale.

NFL Week 16

Jets at Dolphins

The Jets are contending for a playoff spot while the Dolphins have been eliminated. After finishing 4-12 last season under Herman Edwards, the Jets have doubled their win total under first-year coach Eric Mangini and are tied with Jacksonville, Denver and Cincinnati in the race for the last two wild-card spots. New York also has a slim chance to win the AFC East title, but is two games behind New England with two to play. Last week, Pennington threw for a career-high 339 yards and one touchdown in the Jets‘ 26-13 win at Minnesota. It was the Jets’ fifth win in seven road games.

Dolphins QB Joey Harrington completed just 5-of-17 passes for 20 yards and was intercepted twice in blustery conditions as the Dolphins lost at Buffalo, 21-0, last week.
